This collection is inspired by the French word “déjà vu”, meaning “already seen” or illusional memory, or the feeling of remembering scenes and events when experienced for the first time, just like a memory flashback.
Déjà vu blurs the boundary between the reality and the dreams. This is just like the philosophical question arising from Zhuang Zhou’s dream of becoming a butterfly: is it Zhuang Zhou who dreamed of becoming a butterfly, or is it the other way round – the butterfly dreamed that it was Zhuangzhou?
